That is not what I mean. I am hungry for change and improvement for me, my family and my community. As many blessings as I know we all have, I also know we live in trying times. And right next to the list of what I am thankful for is my to-do list for our country. So much to do-but then I am reminded of an inscription:
When I was young and free and my imagination had no limits, I dreamed of changing the world.
As I grew older and wiser I discovered the world would not change –
So I shortened my sights somewhat and decided to change only my country, but it too seemed immovable.
So I shortened my sights somewhat and decided to change only my country, but it too seemed immovable.
As I grew into my twilight years, in one last desperate attempt, I settled for changing only my family, those closest to me, but alas, they would have none of it.
And now I realize as I lie on my deathbed, if I had only changed myself first, then by example I might have changed my family. From their inspiration and encouragement I would then have been able to better my country,
And who knows, I might have even changed the world.
- inscription on the tomb of an Anglican Bishop in Westminster Abbey
I have a challenge for all of you. As you are enjoying the smells and tastes of this great holiday and you are thanking God for all of your blessings, also be thinking of the things in yourself that you hunger to change and make better. Not a list of things you wish to change, a list of personal mission. As Orrin Woodward says lets RESOLVE to change.
Create a list of gratitudes and a list of missions. This world can and will be a better place. Take the time to start with you, and who knows maybe we will all CHANGE THE WORLD!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING AND MAY GOD BLESS YOUR LIST
Marc
So thankful to be part of a world changing organization like LIFE. Leaders like Marc & Kristine are not only enjoying the holiday but always thinking of how they can become better in order to change themselves, which will in turn change communities, which will in turn change nations, which will in turn change the world! God has blessed us with so much and that simply means we have much to give! I'm cookin' but also listing my personal mission changes I need to have happen in me! Thank you for the inspiration, wisdom, leadership, and continuous challenge to RESOLVE to change!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to becoming a force for good in the world. I am thankful that LIFE Leadership has given me tools which are preparing me to be the force. The more I dig in and learn, the more prepared I feel. I'm grateful for leaders like Pete and Kristin Jarvis, Chris and Kristen Schill, and you. I've got a sense of hope during what could otherwise be a dark time. It has sustained me through and given me hope that otherwise would never have been there.
